Parking

There are many ramps, meters, and open lots located throughout the campuses.

Public parking ramps and meters use the following rate structure when event parking is not in effect:

  • $3 per hour during times of high demand (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. M-F)
  • $1 per hour at all other times

A daily maximum amount is charged in each 24-hour period after entry that varies by facility and ranges from $6 to $15. Facilities farther from the core of campus have lower daily maximums.  For most meters. the maximum length of stay is two hours.

For lots, the daily fee ranges from $6 to $13, with most being $6, so lot parking can be the most economical choice.

Note that most of these facilities will charge a $10-25 flat entrance fee on EVENT NIGHTS.

Visit the University Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) for full details.

Disability Parking
You may park in any of the designated campus disability parking locations if you have a state disability parking permit or license plate. This permit can be obtained with the approval of your physician. Information on the state permit is available from Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services. Campus parking facilities require standard payment of the lot fee.

On-street disability parking spots provide free parking for three hours with the state permit or license. The three-hour time limit is waived after 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday. Look for the identifying signage for these spots.

Parking Assistance on the University Campus
The PTS provides the Motorist Assistance Program (MAP), staffed by specially trained in-house employees, to anyone who parks a vehicle on University grounds, be it at a parking meter, on a surface lot, or in a parking garage. MAP is available to all legally parked, on-campus patrons Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 612-626-PARK (7275). Typical assistance includes changing flat tires, jumping dead batteries, and extracting keys locked in cars.
